All About Us: Yue

Hip Hop Club Rockstar Yue tells all on obsessively recording MTV music videos, indulging in ice cream post class, and why she’s always up for a challenge!

Meet Yue:

Yue uforia instructorMy grandmother used to take me to her senior disco dance classes when I was 6.  I was instantly hooked and I wanted to learn more styles!  When I was in middle school, I was determined to learn hip hop dancing through MTV.  I recorded EVERY music video – Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Madonna, Bobby Brown, Tribe Called Quest, TLC – you name it, I have it on VHS.  And guess what?  That’s literally how I learned to dance!

Favorite Local Hot Spots?

In Nob Hill, I love Liholiho Yacht Club for food. It’s delicious. Harper & Rye is a go-to for drinks and is my Thursday night ritual for people watching.  If I’m hitting the town at night, BootieSF offers the sweatiest dance party! If only uforia hosted late night Hip Hop Club….

What do you do in your spare time?

I always wish I had more spare time! I run a production company and co-host a UK TV show. When I’m not at work, I spend most of my time dancing! When I do carve out the time, I love exploring all the “secret” places in the city. There are so many cool corners of the city and restaurants to try! Got a favorite hidden gem? Come find me post-class to swap secret spots.

Where do you find your uforia?

I find my uforia in challenges that push me of out my comfort zones. Even if I don’t succeed at first, tackling challenges makes me feel so good. Whether they’re big steps or small steps, these moments define us!

What are your favorite pre/post workout snacks?

Before a workout, I love having a cup of chai tea and a handful of almonds for a boost of energy.  After workouts, I treat myself to a banana, wheat thins, peanut butter, and a scoop of ice cream! It might sound like an odd combination, but I look forward to it every time!

Favorite Song At The Moment?

“Me Too” by Meghan Trainor.  I automatically start shimmying.  It’s a total feel-good anthem. Have you heard it? Give it a listen here!

Anything else you want to share with our uforians?

In this digital age, I really enjoy human connections!  Come chat with me before and after classes; I’d love to get to know you all better!  And also, I co-host a podcast all about dating in SF:dateablepodcast.com.  I want to hear your stories and I’m sure you all have plenty to share!
