We’re thrilled to welcome new Revolutions Rockstar Tori to the uforia Crew! Whether she’s behind the Concierge desk, riding next to you in class, or now on the Rockstar bike, Tori’s smile brings us all that feeling of uforia! As a total Californian who grew up in the Bay Area and headed down to sunny Santa Barbara for college, Tori has always loved getting outside and staying active while windsurfing, trail + beach running, hiking, and ocean swimming. With a passion for food & adventure that might even rival her passion for embracing the sweat at uforia, Tori is all about fun and you’ll feel it as you groove with her in class!
Read on for her take on the best SF dining & her killer chia coconut milk concoction!
Favorite local Hot Spots?
Nob Hill & Russian Hill are totally my stomping grounds! I love Union Larder and Stones Throw on Hyde street. Union Larder – it’s like a mini-Eataly with a wine bar, charcuterie counter, cheesemonger and delicious casual menu for sharing–is awesome. Stones Throw is one of my favorite restaurants and is part of the Hi Neighbor Group whom I adore. I’ve been known to post up solo at the bar when I don’t feel like cooking and just want an amazing meal and good glass of wine.
I also love Grace Cathedral and Huntington Park. It feels so “old school San Francisco” and is stunning at night when the cathedral lights shine through the stained glass. I find a lot of peace at Tuesday night Yoga in the Cathedral. I’m also an avid football fan (GO NINERS!) so you’ll often find me on Sundays at either the Hyde Out or Shanghai Kelley’s catching the games and cheering/cursing my fantasy football team.
What do you do in your spare time?
In my spare time you can usually find me following one of the five F’s in my life… Food, Friends, Fitness, Fun, and Family (in no particular order). Outside uforia, I run the Corporate Social Responsibility program for OpenTable. I’m incredibly passionate about combining my love of the restaurant industry / food / dining with something I feel incredibly committed to – giving back and helping contribute to my community!
I love taking the ferry over to Sausalito and stand up paddling boarding around the houseboats and waterfront, then stopping in at Bar Bocce for some amazing pizza, a cold beer, and some bocce before heading back to SF. If I’m feeling a little less active, then you’ll probably find me cooking, at whatever Farmers’ Market is happening or hanging out in one of San Francisco’s amazing parks trying to befriend all the local dogs.
Where do you find your uforia?
I find my uforia in food and fitness. I love exploring the city and our amazing food scene. I LOVE to cook and bake – especially when the weather starts to cool–whipping up cakes, cookies, roasts, and all sorts of inventions. Cooking therapy is totally a thing. When I’m not embracing the sweat at uforia, you’ll often find me running along the Marina Green, Crissy Field, East Beach or out to the Golden Gate Bridge. There’s nothing better than ending at Hopper’s Hands and watching the surfers at Fort Point before running back along the beach. Nature and endorphins, am I right? I also love yoga, boxing and pilates.
What are your favorite pre/post workout snacks?
Pre-workout I’ll usually grab a handful of almonds and pecans, or an apple with nut butter. For early morning starts (hello, 6am Rev!) I usually have half a Kind bar to get my blood sugar up about 30 minutes before class. I love the Almond & Coconut. After working out, all bets are off. I try to stay healthy and I love recovering with a chia coconut milk concoction I make a lot with chia seeds, coconut milk, cardamom, cinnamon, turmeric, nutmeg, and a pinch of pink Himalayan salt. Come find me for the recipe!
Favorite songs at the moment?
One minute I’ll be on a country kick, then next it’ll be oldies, then into a non-stop dance party. I gravitate to the music I grew up with, so you’ll catch a lot of throwback 80s, 90s, 00s jams in my class. I’m loving “Locked Away” from R. City and Adam Levine. It’s beachy, makes you wanna dance, and I can’t stop singing along. I have always, and will always love Nina Simone – still figuring out how I can work “Sinnerman” into my Revolutions playlist “Feeling Good” has already made an appearance!
Anything else you might want to share with our uforians?
I found uforia first as a client, then joined the team as a Concierge, and am now a Rockstar. The instant sense of community and infectious fun at uforia hooked me immediately. I can’t wait to share that joy with everyone who walks through our doors! I love meeting new people and swapping tips on favorite San Francisco spots. If you have the scoop on the next great restaurant or need help finding a great spot for post-workout brunch, hit me up!
