Revolutions Rockstar David dishes on the journey from opera to dance to Revolutions, Kylie Minogue, and his foodie motto “everything in moderation, including moderation itself!”
Meet David:
In a way, I was forced into fitness. In pursuit of a degree in voice performance (I have a BFA in Opera singing), I had to take 4 years of dance classes. This exposed me to a regular fitness habit–something I definitely didn’t have before–and to a whole new way of life. I started changing the way I ate and became dedicated to working out–bikram yoga, volleyball, and, most importantly: Revolutions at uforia!
Favorite Palo Alto Hot Spots?
Rengstorff Park and Cuesta Park for volleyball, the Baylands Nature Preserve for running, and of course a bunch of great restaurant spots including Lyfe Kitchen, The Counter, Park Balluchi, Los Altos Grill, and Cocina Central. I also love movies in the comfy seats at the Century Cinemas on Shoreline!
What do you do in your spare time?
I’m all about keeping life busy, fresh, and dynamic! I love: Weekly card games (poker, spades, bridge), grass volleyball, and as many travel adventures as I can go on with my friends! The occasional trip to gamble in Vegas with friends is a guilty pleasure I’m totally willing to admit to.
Where do you find your uforia?
I find my uforia inspiring others to feel good. Whether it’s on the Rockstar bike at uforia or through the company I started that matches people with accountability buddies around fitness and life goals, empowering others makes me feel good. To do that, I also need to go deep inside and recharge my personal battery. Finding my uforia sometimes means taking the time to veg out and celebrate “me” time.
What are your favorite pre/post workout snacks?
Hydrating before and after class is huge. To power up before class (with enough time to digest—-nothing worse than being weighed down during class), I love an arugula salad with beets, chicken, avocado, eggs, feta, and red wine vinaigrette.
I also love apples with cashew butter- it’s both guilt free and indulgent at the same time! I also like to say this: everything in moderation, including moderation itself!
Favorite Songs At The Moment?
Wow, answering this is like choosing which of your children is your favorite! I really love most EDM, dance pop, and lots of JPop. If I were forced to choose, though, I’d say that one song that has never gotten old for me is “Get Outta My Way” by Kylie Minogue. It’s all about claiming your space, and I love that!
Anything else you want to share with our uforians?
By day, I’m a programmer/nerd so getting to sweat and letting loose on the bike is so important. I’m so excited to ride with you all!
